Verena Zenker

Age: 25

Interests: International Relations, Traveling, Tennis, Motorsports, Soccer, Reading

Motivation: I was infected with the famous MUN-fever in 2007 when I first participated in MainMUN as a delegate. In the following years I participated in several national MUNs as delegate, was part of Frankfurts NMUN delegation twice and also helped organizing MainMUN a couple of times, 2010 even as Secretary-General. Now that I've graduated from Goethe-University it is an honour and a pleasure for me to pass on my knowledge an experience as faculty adviser of MainMUN 2012.

Course of Studies: Political Science and American Studies

Age: 25

Interests: International and EU Politics, Technology, Philosophy, Movies, Diplomacy

Motivation: Currently involved in a Model United Nations in NYC, I was also very interested in MainMUN Project in Frankfurt. I was very eager to be a part of the orga-team and help organize the Conference in 2012. MainMUN has grown to be one of the largest German Models United Nations and I can clearly see the reason behind this fact - the conference is organized by young, enthusiastic and fun students and being the part of this great team is truly an amazing experience.

Motivation: During the last year, I had the chance to participate in several different Model United Nations and experience MUNs as a delegate. This time I wanted to experience MainMUN as part of the organizer-team. That I also got the job as one of the two Secretary Generals was just coincidence but I like the challenge and responsibility that goes with it. I hope I do my job as SecGen as good as the last ones and that every delegate will enjoy MainMUN 2012.

Motivation: After participating in the Main Model United Nations 2011 as a delegate, I changed sides and am now a member of the organization team. Being interested in politics, it is a good opportunity to get a better understanding of the work of the United Nations, as well as global issues. I´m looking forward to be a part of the organization team and to meet interesting people from all over the world here in Frankfurt to share this great and unique experience. See you all at MainMUN 2012!

Interests: Reading, Movies, Swimming, Dancing, Traveling

Motivation: Participating in MUN’s is always a special experience because you get a glimpse of what real politics and diplomacy looks like. It’s strenuous, but also exciting and rewarding.
MUN changed the way I see international politics and gave me a deeper understanding not only of the work of the United Nations as an organization, but also of its importance for everyone of us.
Having the chance to share that with other students is too good an opportunity to pass. I hope to meet a lot of you here in Frankfurt so that we can share this great experience together.

Motivation: My first Model United Nations MainMUN 2011 was a very exciting experience. I had never been part of such a conference before and so many things were totally new. The first thing I had to realize was that
negotiation is normally not as easy as it might seem to outsiders. At Model United Nations, and of cause in a much more complex way also at the UN, you are not the only one who wishes to accomplish his or her country's interests. The task of finding compromises that are acceptable to a huge number of delegations was very challenging. But in fact, it was great fun. So I decided to take part in the UN course last semester and now I am part of Frankfort's NMUN Delegation. The new view as an organizer will give me the possibility to gain some more experience in preparation of NMUN 2012.
After being part of MainMUN and HamMUN, I am looking forward to being chair in MainMUN 2012.

Motivation: Two years ago the MUN-spirit caught up with me and I became part of the Frankfurt delegation for the National Model United Nations Conference in New York. The MainMun 2012 will be my 5th Mun and my second one as a chair. Each MUN has been an exciting, challenging and unique event. And again, it is a great honour to be part of the organisation team.

Motivation: My first participation as a delegate in the Main Model United Nations in 2011 was a very interesting and exciting experience. There, I did not only get the chance to learn a lot about the way the United Nations operates, the Rules of Procedures and my specific topic in the General Assembly, but also to discuss issues and problems of international politics with delegates from all over Germany. As a member of the MainMUN 2012 organizing team I am excited to have a look behind the scenes of the preparation of a MUN and to co-organize an UN simulation myself. Therefore, I look forward to an exciting and successful MainMUN 2012 with many fruitful discussions and unforgettable moments.

Motivation: During our studies and while following the news, we often encounter the decisions of International Organizations such as the United Nations. At first glance, we're most interested in the conclusion, but the decision-making process itself is also worth our attention.
Many factors may influence these international negotiations, such as political, economic, military and ideological interests, as well as different cultures and competing history understandings. I like the concept of MUNs, in which the participants represent a foreign country for a few days, and try to understand and act in their role. This will probably a challenge, but hopefully also an exciting and rewarding experience and helpful for getting a better understanding of the course of negotiations and for varying positions.

Interests: Traveling, Reading, Cooking

Motivation: This is the first time for me participating in a MUN simulation and I am sure it will be a great experience. I am really looking forward to the conference because it is very interesting to discuss important actual issues. I’m looking forward to work in a team and to exchange our minds. By participating and organizing MainMun I want to get to know the UN’s working process as an international organization and thereby understand the UN’s efficiency and limits.

Age: 22

Interests: Traveling, Camping, Politics, Webdesign, Reading, Movies, Water Sports

Motivation: I have not only attended MainMUN so far, but also participated in various simulations - such as simulations of the European Council or the NATO.
Nevertheless I also wanted to experience what the work behind the scenes is like and I am proud that my work enables other young and interested people to experience the thrill of the diplomatic stage. Additionally I like working in teams. Therefore I enjoy the work that comes with organizing a huge an popular event as MainMUN.

Age: 26

Interests: international relations, tennis, chess, traveling, art

Motivation: In the last years, I attended several MUN simulations and was impressed by the great dedication and high level of professionalism by the chairs. They encouraged the delegate to bring out the best of themselves and the huge success of each conference was partly due to their activity. I hope I can hand some of experiences on and make MainMUN a valuable time for each delegate.
